SIF and the Blue Dot Network align quality infrastructure criteria

The Sustainable Infrastructure Foundation (SIF) and the Blue Dot Network (BDN) have completed a joint initiative to translate the BDN’s infrastructure quality criteria into a digital format compatible with Source, SIF’s public-good platform for infrastructure project development.

Through this work, the BDN criteria have been mapped against Source project development guidance, enabling project teams to reference and apply quality principles directly within the project preparation and structuring processes. This integration allows infrastructure projects to be viewed according to their alignment with internationally recognised expectations on sustainability, governance, transparency, and long-term performance.

By making the criteria accessible in a practical, digital environment, the collaboration helps move quality standards from concept into day-to-day project development. Governments, public authorities, and project sponsors using Source can now more easily assess how their projects align with the BDN framework and identify areas for further strengthening.

The initiative reflects a shared objective to improve the consistency, credibility and investment readiness of infrastructure projects at scale. The digital mapping focuses on supporting better project design upstream, where early decisions have the greatest influence on outcomes and long-term value creation.

“The development of quality infrastructure must start as early as possible in project planning and preparation, This collaboration between BDN and Source will provide a mechanism for ensuring projects are developed taking into account quality infrastructure principles, thereby generating long-term positive outcomes for communities, investors and end-users.” –  Head of the BDN Secretariat, Edwin Lau

“Infrastructure quality is increasingly central to investor confidence and public trust. Integrating the BDN criteria into Source provides a practical pathway for projects to demonstrate alignment with internationally recognised expectations, supporting both better governance and more effective mobilisation of private capital.” – SIF CEO, Christophe Dossarps

As infrastructure programmes expand across regions and sectors, the collaboration between the BDN and SIF demonstrates how an internationally recognised certification and a multilateral online software delivered as a public good for governments can complement each other to support stronger pipelines of bankable, sustainable projects and help scale private investment in quality infrastructure.
