The Source Council and Donors Community came together on January 29, 2025, for a crucial meeting to shape the priorities of Source in 2025. This gathering was vital in reaffirming global commitment and securing strategic direction for the initiative. A major highlight was the appointment of ADB as the new chair of the Source Council for a one-year term, as part of a planned annual rotation among key stakeholders.
Meeting the growing demand for Source’s implementation remains a priority. Fourteen Pacific Island countries have shown interest in adopting Source, along with approximately 25 countries that have submitted a Letter of Interest (LOI) and are still waiting for integration. Additionally, interest in expanding Source to the sub-national level is increasing, with Brazil and the French Treasury actively involved in discussions.
The Council also emphasised the importance of maintaining Source’s leadership in the market and ensuring continued support for its implementation worldwide. Looking ahead, Source’s impact will be showcased at the upcoming G20 IWG meetings, providing an opportunity to highlight its usefulness, uniqueness, and adaptability on a global stage.
With ADB as Chair of the Source Council for 2025 and a rotating chair structure in place, Source is well-positioned for sustained growth in the years to come.
