  • Enhanced Transparency and Efficiency: by utilizing the SOURCE platform, Ecuador aims to improve project preparation, align with international best practices, and provide stakeholders with real-time access to project information throughout the lifecycle.

  • International Collaboration: the integration of SOURCE in Ecuador was supported by EUROCLIMA financed by the European Union, with implementation assistance from GIZ.

1. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is advising on the structuring of 3 key road projects, ensuring they meet global standards and attract private sector participation.

2. The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) just announced that they will support the studies and structuration of the Guayaquil Southern Viaduct project.

Secretary Pablo Cevallos emphasized that “the trust of an international partner like Canada strengthens Ecuador’s position as an attractive destination for infrastructure investment, supported by a renewed legal framework and solid international practices.”

  • Infrascope Ranking Progression: between 2020 and 2024, Ecuador made significant strides in enhancing its PPP framework, as reflected in the Economist Impact Infrascope rankings. The country’s overall score improved from 49.3 in 2021/22 to 56.8 in 2023/24, elevating its position from 13th to 9th among 26 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. A key contributor to this advancement was the implementation of the SOURCE platform as Ecuador’s national PPP registry.

Ecuador’s proactive approach in publishing these PPP projects on the SOURCE platform not only demonstrates a commitment to sustainable infrastructure development but also positions the country as a transparent and reliable partner for international investors.
