The 9th edition of the UNECE International PPP Forum took place from 14 to 16 May 2025 in Belgrade, Serbia, bringing together policymakers, international organisations, financial institutions, and private sector representatives to explore innovative approaches to sustainable infrastructure development through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).
The Sustainable Infrastructure Foundation (SIF), had the opportunity to speak at the Forum during Policy Debate 1. The session, titled “The experience of Serbia in delivering PPPs aligned with the SDGs”, focused on Serbia’s evolving PPP framework and its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
SIF’s intervention introduced participants to Source, the multilateral platform that supports governments in the preparation and development of infrastructure projects. Source provides essential tools to enhance project transparency, governance, and accountability, while helping build a robust, investable pipeline. The platform also plays a critical role in advancing the development of sustainable, climate-resilient, and SDG-aligned infrastructure. SIF’s contribution highlighted Source’s relevance for project assessment using the UNECE PIERS Evaluation Methodology, which has been digitalised within the platform. This integration allows project officers to gain a preliminary indication of how their projects align with the UNECE PIERS Evaluation Methodology, prior to entering the formal certification process.
Beyond the formal sessions, the Forum served as an important networking platform. SIF engaged with stakeholders from countries currently implementing or using Source: including Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Brazil, and also established connections with a number of new delegates and participants.
The Forum reinforced the importance of collaboration, innovation, and digital solutions in advancing sustainable PPP practices. SIF thanks UNECE for the opportunity to present at the Forum.
