On 25 June 2025, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Committee on Innovation, Competitiveness and Public-Private Partnerships convened its eighteenth session, bringing together government representatives, private-sector stakeholders, and international partners. The focus: driving innovation, boosting competitiveness, and strengthening strategic public-private partnerships (PPPs) to support sustainable development and digital transformation across the UNECE region.
Around 40 participants attended, representing UNECE/CECI member States including Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Portugal, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Serbia, Tajikistan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan.
A key outcome of the session was the adoption of document ECE/CECI/2025/2, item (i), titled Guidelines on Improving the Delivery of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) through Digital Transformation Throughout the Project Lifecycle in Support of the Sustainable Development Goals (ECE/CECI/WP/PPP/2024/3). Central to this framework is strong support for Source. This UN-recognised endorsement not only elevates Source’s credibility but also paves the way for better-prepared infrastructure projects, capable of attracting both public and private investment.
The adopted guidelines align closely with the Sustainable Development Goals, promoting an integrated approach to planning, evaluation, and monitoring of the financial, technical, and governance dimensions of PPPs. As the reference platform, Source provides a structured methodology for project preparation, risk and cost assessment, and facilitation of financing from both public institutions and the private sector.
