“Women belong in all places where decisions are being made. It shouldn’t be that women are the exception.” – Ruth Bader Ginsburg
As we approach the 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 5, achieving gender equality, remains a cornerstone of progress. Since 2020, governments have been able to integrate gender-relevant answers into the Source template questions, reflecting the recognition that gender-balanced teams drive better decision-making.
This is especially crucial in infrastructure project pipeline development, ensuring diverse perspectives in decision-making across line ministries and sectors. However, currently only 28% of the STEM workforce consists of women, highlighting the need for continued efforts to close the gap.
Let’s commit to fostering a more inclusive future where women play an equal role in shaping policies and infrastructure projects that impact us all.
Wishing all women a Happy International Women’s Day!
